Exposure to gasoline
Many of us are exposed to benzene by inhalation or contact, especially when working in areas where gasoline is used, products containing benzene or due to pollution.
– From workplaces where workers may be exposed to inhalation or contact with petrol: petroleum refineries, rubber plants, chemical plants, gasoline-related industries, shoe factories, service stations , firefighters, laboratory technicians and printers.
– Products containing petrol: Benzene is found in some products, such as: paints, lubricants, dyes, detergents, pesticides, glue and solvents. Pollution: Benzene can be inhaled through car exhaust, factory emissions, sewage and cigarette smoke, and can be found in contaminated drinking water.
