Beijing, capital of the People’s Republic of China, is located at the top of the North China Tripartite Plain, at an altitude of 30 to 40 meters from sea level. It is surrounded by Hebei Province, bordered to the north. -is by the Yan Mountains, to the west by the Gondo Mountains, To the west of Beijing Bay, Beijing is the political seat and the cultural center of China. An integral part of China’s history for eight centuries, the city was elected capital of the People’s Republic in 1949 and has experienced a rapid growth in its industrial activities, population and geographical areas.
